Snow Peak Pack and Carry Fireplace

When setting up camp for the night, most of us probably worry about getting a fire going right away. Whether it’s for cooking or just warmth or you just enjoy the crackle and smell of a good fire, it’s at the top of the list when establishing camp. Part of that process is to either dig out or make a ring with rocks, a task that can be exhausting to some. What if getting a fire established was as easy as unfolding a portable fireplace, finding some wood, and getting it going?

Snow Peak offers a unique and affordable solution ($149.99 for the medium size) in their Pack and Carry Fireplace. The Pack and Carry Fireplace comes in three different sizes: small, medium, and large.  The medium sized fireplace comes in it just under 8lbs and is not the largest solution for building a fire as it opens up to 13 inches in width and only stands 9 inches in height. It does pack down flat and can be easily stowed in your vehicle. Expedition Portal has a good write up and review on this portable fireplace as they’ve field tested a piece of equipment you might not consider essential but may rethink in the long run. If cooking over an open flame is more your style, Snow Peak also offers a grille cover ($39.95 for the medium size) to go over the fireplace for cooking.
